Make Beautiful Photos with Quick Presets on Your Instagram Feed

Do you wish your Instagram photos were lighter, softer, or just cohesive? Today, I'm going to share my favorite way to edit photos quickly and beautifully using Desktop & Mobile Presets. But first...

Start with a Beautiful Photo

How do some Instagramers have professional looking photos every time?

They don't. Sometimes it takes 100 shots to get 1 perfect photograph. Even a professional photographer has to take several photos, make adjustments, and edit an image until it is just right. However, there are some shortcuts they take to simplify their process. The best part is, you can use these shortcuts too.

Use Natural Light

If you take photos, you've probably heard this tip a thousand times. The best time to take photos is in the morning and afternoon with the sunlight is softer and comes evenly through a window. Even on overcast days, the natural light will make editing your photos easier.

Different Angles

Take several photos from different angles and make try styling your products or background in different ways. This way you can choose the best photo for your feed without having to re-shoot.

Phone Backup Photos

If you have a phone with a camera, take photos with both your phone and regular camera. Sometimes the auto focus on a camera can makes images blurry and unfortunately you don't notice until you've upload your photos. You'd be amazed how beautiful phone photos can turn out. There are loads of free tutorials on YouTube and even courses just for Phone Photography.

I prefer using my Nikon camera for photos because the resolution of the images is much higher. However, I like to have my phone photos as backup when the camera photos don't turn out right. This saves loads of time and frustration!

Make Adjustments & Edits

Once you have your photos uploaded its time to make adjustments and edits. You can do this on your computer with software or on your phone with apps.

Adobe Lightroom

Adobe's Lightroom Mobile App is FREE! This app will make adjusting your photos so easy (especially after you get the presets).

To edit photos on your computer with higher resolution photos, you can get Adobe Lightroom for $9.99/month. I love using the desktop software to add my presets and quickly edit my images.

Bonus: when you log into the Lightroom mobile app after subscribing to the desktop version, your photos and presets will be synced in the Adobe Cloud. When you install Desktop presets, they will automatically be installed on your app.

A Color Story

A Color Story is mobile app alternative to Adobe Lightroom. A Color Story mobile app allows you to edit your photos on your phone, purchase presets directly in the app and no installing necessary! So if Lightroom isn't for you, I definitely recommend A Color Story.

My 3 Favorite Places to Get Presets

Lou & Marks

I recently found Lou & Marks Presets by accident. And I'm so happy I did because I absolutely LOVE their presets.

Presets aren't magic. If your photo is too dark or too bright, a preset won't turn out just the way you want it with one click. This means you'll have to make your own adjustments after adding the preset, which kind of defeats the purpose right?...

Turns out Lou & Marks presets are magic! Each preset pack has variations of the main preset with adjustments for bright, brightest, dark, darkest, etc... so you can quickly apply the adjustments in one click instead of spending time experimenting with all the sliders yourself. This was such a time saver for me and I'm definitely going back for more presets soon. 📷 Visit Lou & Marks

A Color Story

Yes; I've already mentioned A Color Story, however this business is also a shop where you can purchase and download Presets for Adobe Lightroom or Actions for Adobe Photoshop. They have so many options to choose from when it comes to the style of their presets, and how you use them. 📷 Visit A Color Story

Creative Market

My third favorite place to find presets is on Creative Market. There are thousands of options from different artists so you're bound to find some presets you love. If you take the time to browse shops with styles you love, you may be lucky enough to find discounted bundles. 📷 Browse Creative Market
